NASA LANCE FIRMS
Suomi NPP VIIRS active-fire/thermal-anomaly detections. One sensor and the retrieved static 24-hour file; no claim of continuous or all-satellite coverage. Regional presets are circular searches, not administrative boundaries.

Read the limits
These points are not confirmed wildfire incidents, perimeters, evacuation orders, or forecasts. Source confidence describes detection quality, not wildfire risk.
Display cap: 1,000 detections, ordered by newest observation first, then source row identifier to break ties. Histogram, list and exports use that same subset. Invalid rows and historical samples cannot establish full-feed totals.
Briefings are deterministic summaries of validated source facts; no language model is required. Full briefings and exports retain the selection, counts, source state and original timestamps.
Five-minute cache per worker; not durable or shared across workers. Live windows use the server clock. Snapshot fallback keeps source capture times. A source with no recent observations can validly return zero matches.
Make sense of the observations
Use this explorer to ask which satellite thermal detections match a place and a recent time window, then inspect their coordinates, observation times and source measurements.
Observed at is when the satellite acquired a detection; Last fetched is when this app retrieved the file. A fresh fetch can contain older observations. This app uses one Suomi NPP VIIRS source file and displays up to the newest 1,000 matching records, so the plotted subset can be smaller than the qualified matched count.
